Dos and Don’ts for a fashionable spring

When the seasons change it is always a good idea to reassess your accessories. Spring brings us more light and warmer temps, and provides the perfect opportunity to lighten things up a bit.

DO continue to wear your wool hats on rainy days, but lighten the color or add a pop of bright with a hat band that welcomes the season.

Fellas, DO switch out your chocolate browns and blacks for greens and lighter grays.

Ladies, DO try a fuchsia ribbon on your black hat or something unexpected like a robins egg blue cloche.

DO start thinking about cotton. There are clear days ahead where it’s safe to pull out your cotton hats.

Those of you who are cap lovers have lots of lighter weight options that will keep you warm and handsome.

For all of you yogis, DO keep chic post workout (and pre shower) with a jersey knit to complement your favorite hoody.

Slouchy styles continue into spring as the perfect hat for everyday.

Boys, DO upgrade your beanie to lightweight cashmere or cotton and ladies DO consider one with a little sparkle to make the most of those sunbeams.

DO hold off on straw hats for another month or two — they really DON’T like rain.

DO pack up those chunky knit hats in an airtight container so they are safe and sound and ready to wear next October.

DO remember to store your out of season fedoras and cloches upside down so that they DON’T change their shape while you’re not looking.

Happy Spring! DON’T forget your hat!
